This sample was acquired online at the French natural health store Aromazone in 2017. It was sold officially as a product for external use, however, some internet sources mention drinking of this clay for healing. Montmorillonite clay is one of the most famous clays used for health purposes in France, alongside with the other local Illite clay. Montmorillonite clay is extracted from natural quarries and then undergoes mechanical treatment, without any chemical process. It is crushed and dried. The powder grains are then sorted by an elaborate and innovative suction selection process.
The name Montmorillonite comes from Montmorillon, the name of the French village where this clay was first discovered. Because of its volcanic ash origin, it is exceptionally rich in essential minerals and trace elements. The original montmorillonite became famous thanks to the spa (balneotherapy) and thermal (healing spring water) industries. Numerous research studies have shown the exceptional therapeutic properties of the montmorillonite clay, especially in rejuvenating damaged tissues. Its high content in silica stimulates the production of chains of protein and collagen, which explains its wide use for anti-aging treatments. It is furthermore often proposed as a food supplement helping to strengthen the digestive and immune systems.

Not so tasty. Not so sticky. Creates a layer around the tongue.
It actually tastes really good to me, also kinda reminds me of the milk candy I had when I was a child.
